Cravings, pesky cravings. You likely know what I am referring to if you suffer from intense cravings for sweet and starchy food. These cravings might temporarily subside when you give in to them and consume ultra-processed food, but before you know it, they’re back in full force, pushing you further down the road of unhealthy eating. You end up over-eating this type of junk food day in and day out. You likely know what this can do for your metabolic health and weight. I’m here to tell you that the first organ to get blasted in this process is your brain.
I have some good news and some bad news. Let’s start with the bad news. Solid and persistent cravings for sweet and starchy food are not normal but rather a strong indication that you might have a form of food-induced brain dysfunction called Carbohydrate-Associated Reversible Brain syndrome or CARB syndrome. This common condition occurs over time if your brain is frequently exposed to ultra-processed food. CARB syndrome has two primary components:
- You can develop up to 22 brain dysfunction symptoms that interfere with your ability to function and the quality of your life. The lead symptom is having intense cravings for sweet and starchy food.
- You will start to store excess body fat at virtually any caloric intake, because your brain is in a permanent fat-storage mode.
Suppose you complain about these symptoms to your healthcare provider. In that case, you likely will be incorrectly diagnosed with a traditional brain or psychiatric disorder such as depression, ADHD, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, or other common conditions. You will then be treated with medications that will tend to make your brain function worse over time rather than better. These drugs will also accelerate your fat storage, potentially leading to significant obesity. Talk about a real mess!
Over many decades of medical practice, I have learned that the key to reversing this downhill slide is to crush these cravings with a safe and effective supplement called CARB-22. This supplement contains the chemical precursors your brain needs to rebuild levels of crucial neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, epinephrine, and norepinephrine.
I know this story a bit too well. My diet hasn’t always been perfect, and in the past, I’ve been known to have a sweet tooth. Over a month ago, I switched to a pescetarian-type diet devoid of meat, dairy, and eggs. I now mainly eat fruits, vegetables, legumes, and some fish. I was able to manage this abrupt change with ease by taking CARB-22 twice daily, and this approach crushed my cravings. My dear wife Irene rarely pays attention to my health ramblings, but recently, I’ve noticed that my bottle of CARB-22 seems to empty sooner than expected. Irene finally admitted that she had been taking it, allowing her to work long hours as a Hospitalist without snacking on all the sugary treats scattered throughout the hospital. If you want to supercharge CARB-22, add the amino acid L-glutamine 500 mg twice daily.
How does CARB-22 do its magic? You have a massive glucose spike in your blood and brain when you consume ultra-processed food. This triggers excess dumping of neurotransmitters from your neurons, overwhelming the reuptake-recycling system used to reuse these valuable chemicals. These excess neurotransmitters are then taken up by the blood and cleared by your kidneys. You end up peeing away your dopamine, serotonin, and other monoamines! This eventually leads to low levels of neurotransmitters, which leads to the 22 symptoms of CARB syndrome. Because your healthcare provider has likely never heard of CARB syndrome, you will be labeled and treated for a disorder that you don’t have.
If you seem to fit the CARB syndrome pattern, load up on CARB-22 plus extra L-glutamine and switch to a whole-food diet without ultra-processed food. I promise you will be astounded by the results of following this simple approach. Improved brain function and loss of excess body fat. What could be better than that?
