Today the special prosecutor in Florida announced 2nd degree murder charges against George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. This case is tragic on many levels, especially the loss of young Trayvon before he really had a chance to live his life.
In looking at the mug shot of George Zimmerman, I was struck by one thing—he clearly has the disease that I call CARB syndrome. How can I tell? He clearly has excessive body fat and he has lost what I call “the look of health”. One of the first things that happens to people when they develop a chronic disease like CARB syndrome is they lose this look of health.
In medicine we are trained to search for this look of health because it allows us to immediately separate the sick from the well. George Zimmerman clearly is not well. As you probably already know from spending time on this site, CARB syndrome is triggered by long-term exposure to excessive fructose mainly from sugar and HFCS and high glycemic carbohydrates, especially from grain. Because the brain plays a key role in auto-regulating fat stores, people with CARB syndrome will start to store extra fat at virtually any caloric intake.
As the disease progresses people sequentially develop up to 21 brain dysfunction symptoms indicating low levels of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin. Some of these symptoms include difficulty concentrating and focusing, poor impulse control, poor listening skills and difficulty with higher-level thinking. In other words you don’t want someone with CARB syndrome to be wandering around with a loaded gun.
It’s dark, there’s a stranger wandering around and you need to make split second decisions based on incomplete information. To function well in this environment you need a really high functioning brain and I suspect this was lacking in Mr. Zimmerman’s case. In his defense, he also has a disease that has been missed by the medical profession and scientific community. Perhaps the blame for this tragedy goes well beyond one individual.
Until we fully acknowledge the fact that certain elements of our modern diet are adversely affecting the brain function of many of our citizens, we can expect many more such tragedies. This site is dedicated to spreading the word so perhaps one day in the future a young black man who didn’t deserve to die will get a chance to live a full and meaningful life.
