Mercola: Monsanto Promises Pain to the EU

Monsanto tries to quash EU’s rejection of GMO crops

The European Commission has issued a proposal to drop the policy of zero tolerance for unapproved and untested GMOs in food; the proposal suggests setting a threshold below which contaminated imports could enter Europe’s food chain.

In 2011, the EU decided to allow contamination with up to 0.1 percent of unapproved and untested GMOs in animal feed, which was previously not allowed.

France recently asked the European Commission to suspend Monsanto’s authorization to plant genetically modified MON 810 corn, but the EU stepped in and blocked the ban
GM opponents are urging the EU to reject the proposals, noting the pressure to drop their zero tolerance policy regarding GM contamination is coming from the U.S. government, the WTO (World Trade Organization) and the biotech industry.

Bravo DocWW for speaking out, as a physician! We thank you for this.

I want to suggest that the definition not even of bad science, but of non-science, is to use a model in which the “proof” is made to fit the desired outcome. We all as a collective, need to point this out about the way Monsanto works. And what “proof” do they have anyway, about their claims? None, only proof to quite the contrary.
I have always wondered if the obesity/diabetes epidemic has something to do with GMOs. Your thoughts, Doc? Thanks!

Dr. Wilson answers:

That’s a very good question. There isn’t currently any evidence that GMOs directly contribute to obesity but I believe they indirectly do so. We now believe that excessive fructose mainly from sugar and HFCS and high glycemic carbohydrates mainly from grains can have an adverse affect on brain function triggering a condition called CARB syndrome. Because it takes a healthy brain to auto-regulate fat stores, people with CARB syndrome begin to store extra fat even when they don’t overeat.
As you know GMOs allow the Agricultural industrial Complex to make tons of cheap food loaded with these toxic substances. GMO corn is at the top of this list. GMO soybeans allow them to add cheap fat to our processed food, further contributing to the obesity epidemic. Government subsidies to the sugar, corn and soybean growers contributes to the problem.

If you want to healthy brain and a normal body composition, stay away from these toxic food substances.
